I’m Avery. I’d loved Blake since high school, but he kept me close without ever choosing me. Then his teammates dared the plus-size girl to flirt with Dylan, their rival team’s star player—and Blake actually agreed. I thought handing Dylan a bottle of water would just end the joke, but I had no idea he’d already noticed me long before that night. Dylan kept choosing me, while Blake slowly realized he’d pushed the girl who loved him for years straight into his biggest rival’s arms.
