When Silas gives Maeve’s hard-won Olympic training grant to another girl, he expects money to erase the betrayal. Then Maeve’s abusive father nearly kills her, and Silas ignores her desperate call for help. Injured but unbroken, she wins on the ice, leaves for Switzerland, and builds a brilliant career. Years later, Silas returns full of regret—but Maeve has already built a life that no longer needs him.
