Su Qingyao, the widow of the Marquis of Dingbei, died tragically in her past life after marrying the corrupt prime minister by mistake. Reborn, she voluntarily marries Xiao Zhenyue, a rustic farmer, longing only for a peaceful life. Unexpectedly, Xiao Zhenyue turns out to be the retired former emperor investigating hidden cases. Together, they thoroughly probe the grain transportation injustice from thirty years ago, bring down the powerful minister Zhao Ding, suppress Prince Ning’s rebellion, and redress wrongs for loyal officials who suffered unjust persecution. In the end, they retreat to the countryside and spend their remaining years in ordinary peaceful life.
