Xu Meng, a modern woman, travels back to 1980s Northeast China as a tragic widow. She fights off her sisters-in-law who try to seize her late husband's job quota. To help her brother-in-law get an apartment, she pretends to be his girlfriend. Then she reunites with Lu Huaiyuan, her childhood sweetheart. After Lu marries into her family, the two work together to resolve family conflicts, win over their relatives, lead the Chen family from strife and scheming to harmony and prosperity, completely rewrite the tragic original story, and live a passionate, brilliant life.
