Empress Ye Qingyao is losing her grip—General Gu holds the army and forces her out. Fleeing, she's saved by scholar Wang Fugui, posing as an inspector and stuck as Lin'an's fake magistrate. From strangers to partners, they hold the county against Gu's army. Gu falls, and she takes back the throne.
