Jenna Foster, a village doctor, supports her fiancé Owen Chapman through college, only to discover he secretly married and had a child in the city. Heartbroken, she cuts him off and accidentally saves Edmund Sinclair, a hunted mob boss who falls for her at first sight and proposes. Ruthless outside but gentle at home, Edmund hides his true identity as love grows between them. Meanwhile, Owen’s wife repeatedly schemes against Jenna. In the end, the selfish pair pay the price for their betrayal.
